Outreach in the community is the crucial call of Christians in the world. To live out our Gospel charge to love our neighbor, Transfiguration Episcopal Church is involved in outreach ministries across Indian River.
Our Mission Committee
Our Mission Committee is always looking for ways to help those in need in our community. It is the heart of our church and supported by the whole parish.
We have a ministry known as "The Lord's Closet" that provides free clothing, we put together baskets for those in need in our area for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we actively provide food, volunteers, and money for the Joy Fellowship Food Bank in our area, we support Eat for Heat to help people with utility bills, we provide gas cards for those in need, and we work with the local market to provde gift cards for the market to those in need. The list goes on and on as we look for ways for our whole Parish to get involved in outreach.
Ronon's Place
Ronon's Place is leasing our Annex building at far below market rate. They are a non-profit that aims to provide compassionate care to those struggling with mental health challenges, in a place near to home, at a price they can afford, even if it is nothing. We feel that Ronon's Place is a great partner to our mission of reaching out to the community around us.
The STAR Program
Sharing Together Area Resources, or STAR, began in January of 2012. The program helps to fill the gaps for those folks on assistance who are unable to purchase personal items such as soap, toilet paper, and toothpaste under the current Food Stamp policy.
STAR is supplied through donations from our congregation as well as community businesses and nonprofits. The local grocery store contributes by selling us personal need items at wholesale cost. The donated items are available at the church as well as at the local school.

School Support Program
This program has expanded to other areas in the school. We provide help with school supplies for students and teachers, clothing for Kim's Kloset and other needs brought to us by a liaison from the school.
